Beautiful oil on canvas by Henry John Dobson, Scottish, (1858 - 1928) 
Titled "Helping Grandma"
Frame: 25" W x 21" H, Painting: 19.5" W x 15" H
The painting features a grandma and grandson in a cottage with dog present 
Signed in lower left corner 
Overall good condition. No restoration. A few spots of crazing and color change around the grandma figure. 
About the artist: 
Born in Peebleshire, Scotland, Henry John Dobson trained at the School of Design at the Royal Institute in Edinburgh. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy and occasionally at the Royal Academy in London. Primarily a genre painter, Dobson depicted subjects from Scottish daily life, often with an emphasis on sentimental incidents. He traveled to the United States and Canada in 1911. His two sons, Cowan Dobson and Henry Raeburn Dobson, also became artists.
